An extruded fiber reinforced cement matrix composite having substantially improved tensile strength with strain hardening behaviour and substantially improved tensile strain, and improved flexural properties in three-point bending is made by mixing cement, water, water soluble binder, and relatively short, discontinuous reinforcing fibers, preferably short polyvinyl alcohol fibers, to provide an extrudable mixture, extruding the mixture to shape, and curing the cement.

On obtient un matériau composite extrudé à matrice en ciment renforcée par des fibres présentant une résistance à la traction sensiblement améliorée ainsi qu'une tenue au durcissement à froid et une contrainte de traction sensiblement améliorées, et des capacités de flexion améliorées en trois points, en mélangeant du ciment, de l'eau, un liant soluble dans l'eau et des fibres de renforcement discontinues, relativement courtes, de préférence des fibres courtes d'alcool polyvinylique, afin de produire un mélange extrudable, le mélange extrudé étant mis en forme, et le ciment durci.
