ABSTRACT A fabric gathering device is disclosed for the gathering of fabric of a garment to create a slimming effect in oversized garments, and as an alternative to tying or knotting for sashes, scarves or the like. The fabric gathering device comprises a rigid member and a securing means, wherein the rigid member is placed in substantial contact with the fabric at a selected location with a portion of the fabric gathered behind the rigid member, and the securing means removeably engages the gathered fabric to secure the rigid member at a selected location.
