A fall arrest harness comprises a pair of shoulder straps, a pair of leg straps and a rear section extending therebetween, a lanyard connection member being connected to a sternal or chest region of the shoulder straps, the rear section defining a seat portion, adapted to lie across the sub-pelvic region or seat of the wearer, and a back portion, adapted to overlie at least a portion of the back of the wearer, the shoulder straps extending between side regions of the seat portion, preferably adjacent a lower edge thereof, and an upper region of the back portion, whereby the wearer, when suspended in the harness by the lanyard connection member, lies in a supine position with the weight of the wearer supported by the seat portion and back portion of the rear section and the shoulder straps with no load being borne by the leg straps.

L'invention concerne un harnais antichute qui comprend une paire de bretelles, une paire de cuissards et une section arrière s'étendant entre elles, un élément de liaison par corde d'amarrage étant relié à une zone des bretelles au niveau du sternum ou de la poitrine, la section arrière définissant une partie d~assise, apte à se placer en travers de la zone sous-pelvienne ou siège de l'utilisateur, et une partie de dos, apte à recouvrir au moins une partie du dos de l'utilisateur, les bretelles s'étendant entre des zones latérales de la partie d~assise, de préférence adjacentes à un bord inférieur de celle-ci, et une zone supérieure de la partie de dos; en conséquence, quand l'utilisateur est suspendu dans le harnais par l'élément de liaison par corde d'amarrage, il se retrouve dans une position allongé à l'horizontale, son poids étant supporté par la partie d~assise et la partie de dos de la section arrière et les bretelles, les cuissards ne portant aucune charge.
