Traditional nut and bolt fasteners are generally acceptable but will normally be over specified for particular applications. Thus, in situations where weight is important such traditional nut and bolt fasteners are not optimised. By providing a fastener (1, 21) in which splayed arms are created with ridges (5, 6; 25, 26) in respective receptor members (2, 22) and insert arm members (3, 23) it will be understood that multi point stabilised contact points for a nut (4, 24) are provided. Thus, the nut (4, 24) can move along the ridges defining a screw path for tightening of the fastener (1, 21) in use. The engagement between the receptor members (2, 22) and the insert arm members (3, 23) is typically through a slot forked end (10, 30) or a closed slot 810 with the slots presenting the splayed arms perpendicular to each other in a cruciform configuration.

En concevant un dispositif d'assemblage (1, 21) dans lequel des bras évasés comportent des nervures (5, 6 ; 25, 26) dans des éléments récepteurs respectifs (2, 22) et dans des éléments de bras d'insertion (3, 23), on comprendra que l'invention concerne des points de contact stabilisés à points multiples pour un écrou (4, 24). L'écrou (4, 24) peut ainsi se déplacer le long des nervures en définissant un chemin de vissage pour serrer le dispositif d'assemblage (1, 21) en service. La mise en prise entre les éléments récepteurs (2, 22) et les éléments de bras d'insertion (3, 23) se trouve, de manière caractéristique, au travers d'une extrémité fourchue à fente (10, 30) ou d'une fente fermée (810), les fentes montrant les bras évasés perpendiculairement l'un à l'autre selon une configuration cruciforme.
