A clamp is disposed on the lower wall of a first table top and on the lower wall of a leaf or a second table top to be connected to the first table top. The clamp has a pair of arms which open and close and a connecting rod may be inserted between the arms of the clamps of the first table top and the leaf or second table top in order to interconnect the two. A spring biases the arms closed but the arms may be opened by pulling a cord attached to one of the clamp. Tables may and leaves may also be interconnected by a rail which extends downwardly beneath a first table top and a leaf or a second table top. Each rail has a groove formed in it. A coupling has ends which are selectively accommodated in the grooves of adjacent rails.
