The invention concerns a floating head manhole especially designed for installation on ground exposed to frost. It includes a shaft supporting at its upper extremity an adapter with an open hole on a vertical axis and a cross hole of greater dimension than the hole. The cross hole is preferably truncated and extends coaxially to the hole at a certain depth from the upper extremity of the adapter, defining a supporting edge within said adapter. The adapter thus has an upper extremity defining a collar with a flexible seal liner. The floating head of the manhole has an open hole on a vertical axis coaxial to that of the adapter. This floating head has a lower section whose exterior lateral surface is of a form and dimension so as to fit into the cross hole of the adapter and to slide tightly into the adapter thanks to the flexible seal. A support frame and lid are installed at the upper extremity of the floating head to complete the manhole. Thanks to its structure, this manhole does not have any of the problems that are commonly encountered, such as unwanted infiltrations or a floating head that becomes stuck because of an accumulation of aggregate or lateral deflection due to frost.

L'invention concerne une bouche d'accès à tête flottante tout particulièrement bien adaptée pour être montée dans un sol sujet au gel. Elle comprend une cheminée pourvue d'une extrémité supérieure sur laquelle est montée un adapteur pourvu d'un trou ouvert d'axe vertical et d'un contre-trou dedimension supérieure à celle du trou. Ce contre-trou qui est de préférence tronconique, s'étend coaxialement au trou à une certaine profondeur depuis la face supérieure de l'adapteur et définit au sein de celui-ci une arête d'appui. L'adapteur a ainsi une partie supérieure définissant un manchon dans lequel est monté une garniture d'étanchéité flexible. La tête flottante de la bouche d'accès est pourvue d'un trou ouvert d'axe vertical coaxial à celui de l'adapteur. Cette tête flottante a une partie inférieure dont la surface latérale extérieure est de forme et de dimension choisies pour s'emboîter dans le contre-trou de l'adapteur et coulisser de façon étanche dans celui-ci grâce à la garniture flexible. Un cadre- support et un couvercle sont fixés à la face supérieure de la tête flottante pour compléter la bouche d'accès qui, de par sa structure, ne souffre d'aucun des problèmes actuellement rencontrés, comme des infiltrations non voulues ou des coincements de la tête flottante à cause d'une accumulation de granulats ou d'une déflexion latérale due au gel.
