ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A circuit interrupter means within an oil filled capacitor housing interrupts a capacitor section-to-terminal connection in response to overpressure and/or overtemperature within the housing. An exothermically alloyable fuse strand is part of that connection, with a portion of the fuse located in the oil at the point of poten- tial interruption so that any arcing that occurs across the gap of the opened connection will kindle the fuse, which in turn will be completely obliterated and thereby quench the arc.
