The present invention is directed to gambogic acid, analogs and derivatives thereof, represented by general Formulae (I-III) wherein R1-R5 are defined herein. The present invention also relates to the discovery that compounds having Formulae (I-III) are activators of caspases and inducers of apoptosis. Therefore, the activators of caspases and inducers of apoptosis of this invention can be used to induce cell death in a variety of clinical conditions in which uncontrolled cell growth and spread of abnormal cells occurs.
La présente invention concerne un acide de gomme-gute, des analogues et des dérivés de celui-ci, représentés par les formules générales (I-III) dans lesquelles R¿1?-R¿5? sont définis dans les spécifications. Cette invention concerne aussi le fait que ces composés de formules précitées sont des activateurs de caspases et des inducteurs d'apoptose. Par conséquent, les activateurs de caspases et les inducteurs d'apoptose de cette invention peuvent être utilisés pour induire une mort cellulaire dans divers états cliniques dans lesquels une croissance cellulaire incontrôlée et une propagation de cellules anormales surviennent.
