ABSTRACT A device for a human to produce animal calls comprises: a main body with first and second ends and an intermediate portion therebetween and a longitudinal air passage therethrough from the first to the end; a reed with a restrained end and an unrestrained end, positioned atop a portion of the air passage so that the user's breath being expelled through the air passage causes the unrestrained end to vibrate; a plate for retaining the restrained end of the reed against the main body along the intermediate portion thereof; and a generally elliptical solid piece of resilient foamed polymeric material for gripping the device between the teeth and/or lips of the human user. The device may further comprise an "O" ring frictionally engaged around the reed and the main body and compressing the reed against the main body along the respective intermediate portions of the reed and the main body. The elliptical solid piece of resilient foamed polymeric material has an aperture therethrough such that the solid piece is slidably positionable upon the plate for retaining the reed, whereupon it frictionally engages.
