ABSTRACT The present invention is directed to improved sterilizable vinyl thermoplastic compounds derived from gamma radiation resistant vinyl halide polymers. Preferred vinyl halide copolymers contain vinyl chloride and one or more co-reactive species selected from the group consisting of: hydroxyl functional acrylate esters, acrylate polycaprolactones, acrylated polyalkylene glycols, methacrylated polyalkylene glycols, alkoxyacryloyl polyalkylene glycols, and alkoxy methacryloyl polyalkylene glycol, polyether containing copolymerizable oligomers, graft polymer modified polyalkylene glycols, a PVC graftlinkable oxygen containing polymer and mixtures thereof. Said compounds may contain one or more additives selected from the group consisting of polyether polyolalkylene oxide block copolymers, polyalkylene oxide diamine adducts, graftlinkable adducts containing polyalkylene glycols, reaction productof a PVC miscible copolymer such as ABS and a polyalkylene glycol, nonyl phenol/ethylene oxide adduct, polyglycol diesters, polyphenylene sulfide polymers, polyphenylene sulfide/polyether copolymers, polycaprolactone diols, poly(styrene oxide), poly styrene oxide/ethylene oxde copolymers, poly styrene oxide/styrene sulfide copolymers, alkoxyalkyl phenolics, thiophenolics, and ethylene sulfide/propylene oxide copolymers. The compounds are rigid to semi- rigid, non-cytotoxic and exhibit resistance to discoloration after gamma sterilization. Useful medical articles derived from these compounds include tubing connectors, flow regulator devices, in-line filter housings, procedural utensils, and the like. 1900058
