A garage mat has a flexible substantially rectangular liquid impervious substrate having four peripheral edges, with an integrally formed sleeve positioned along each of the four peripheral edges. An elongated member is positioned in each integrally formed sleeve to create a liquid retention border along each of the four peripheral edges. A liquid impervious corner tray underlies each corner of the substrate where adjacent peripheral edges meet. Each corner tray has a projecting tongue that underlies the substrate and a raised outer peripheral edge that cooperates with the liquid retention border to prevent leakage of liquid at each corner of the substrate.
