Disclosed is a gas barrier laminate which is excellent in transparency while exhibiting high oxygen barrier properties without depending on humidity. Also disclosed is a method for producing such a gas barrier laminate. Specifically disclosed is a gas barrier laminate comprising a base and a layer arranged on the base. This layer is composed of a composition containing a hydrolysis- condensation product of a compound (L) containing a metal atom to which at least one group selected from halogen atoms and alkoxy groups is bonded, a neutralized product of a polymer containing a functional group selected from carboxyl group and carboxylic anhydride groups, and a compound (D). At least a part of -COO- group contained in the functional group is neutralized by a divalent or higher valent metal ion. The compound (L) includes at least one compound (A) wherein an organic group having at least one characteristic group selected from halogen atoms, mercapto group and hydroxyl group is further bonded to the metal atom. The compound (D) is such a compound that is bonded with both a group on the surface of the hydrolysis-condensation product and the -COO- group of the neutralized product of the polymer.

L~invention décrit spécifiquement un stratifié formant une barrière contre les gaz comprenant une base et une couche disposée sur la base. Cette couche est composée d~une composition contenant un produit issu de l~hydrolyse et de la condensation d'un composé (L) contenant un atome de métal auquel au moins un groupe choisi parmi des atomes d'halogène et des groupes alcoxy est lié, un produit neutralisé d'un polymère contenant un groupe fonctionnel choisi parmi un groupe carboxyle et des groupes anhydride carboxylique, et un composé (D). Au moins une partie du groupe -COO- contenu dans le groupe fonctionnel est neutralisée par un ion métallique divalent ou de valence plus élevée. Le composé (L) comprend au moins un composé (A) dans lequel un groupe organique ayant au moins un groupe caractéristique choisi parmi des atomes d'halogène, un groupe mercapto et un groupe hydroxyle est en outre lié à l'atome métallique. Le composé (D) est un composé qui est lié à la fois à un groupe à la surface du produit d~hydrolyse et de condensation et au groupe -COO- du produit neutralisé du polymère.
