A fuel gas type hammering tool, wherein a spring for always energizing a feed piston (22) in a feeding direction is installed in the feed cylinder (21) of a feed piston/cylinder device (7). A combustion chamber (5) is connected, through a gas pipeline (26), to the opposite side of the feed cylinder (21) to the side where the spring is installed. A delay piston/cylinder device (A) is installed at the intermediate part of the gas pipeline (26). One end of a delay cylinder (27) is disposed on the combustion chamber (5) side and the other end is disposed on the feed cylinder (21) side. When the delay piston (28) is slid from one end to the other end of the delay cylinder (27) by the pressure of combustion gas, air compressed in the delay cylinder (27) is supplied from the other end of the delay cylinder (27) to the feed cylinder (21).
