A device for the generation of electrical power from a fluid flow, and more particularly for harvesting power from flows downhole in oil or gas wells, comprises a cylinder or other blunt body (1) arranged crosswise to the flow and supported on the end of a sprung cantilever arm (3) held in a fixed mount, with freedom to oscillate in response to the shedding of a Karman vortex trail v from the' body. The resultant motion of the body (1) and arm (3) is converted into electrical energy by piezoelectric material (5) which is attached to, and stressed by, flexure of the arm. Other arrangements of piezoelectric and inductive power generation from the oscillation of the device are described.
L'invention concerne un dispositif de génération d'énergie électrique à partir d'un écoulement de fluide, et plus particulièrement permettant de récolter de l'énergie à partir d'écoulements d'extraction dans des puits de pétrole ou de gaz, le dispositif comprenant un vérin ou un autre corps émoussé (1) disposé en travers de l'écoulement et supporté sur l'extrémité d'un bras en porte-à-faux (3) à ressorts maintenu dans un montage fixe, avec une certaine liberté d'oscillation en réponse à la chute d'une traînée d'un tourbillon de Karman, v, en provenant du corps. Le mouvement résultant du corps (1) et du bras (3) est converti en énergie électrique grâce à un matériau piézoélectrique (5) qui est fixé à une courbure du bras et contraint par celle-ci. L~invention concerne également d'autres dispositions de génération d'énergie piézoélectrique et inductive provenant de l'oscillation du dispositif.
