Disclosed is a method of making optical waveguide preforms and optical waveguides which may be drawn to a fiber. A silica forming feedstock which includes a mixture of siloxane and germanium chloride and an optical waveguide preform manufacturing apparatus is also disclosed. Further disclosure includes the mixing prior to deposition and use of high purity siloxane with high purity germanium chloride to produce germanium doped silica. The delivery lines for the feedstock to the deposition side may be heated to 175 ~C-200 ~C.

L'invention concerne un procédé de formation de préformes de guides d'ondes optiques et de guides d'ondes optiques pouvant être étirées en fibres. L'invention concerne également une matière première de formation de silice comprenant un mélange de siloxane et de chlorure de germanium, ainsi qu'un appareil de fabrication de préformes de guides d'ondes optiques. L'invention concerne en outre le mélange antérieur à la formation de dépôt et l'utilisation de siloxane de haute pureté avec du chlorure de germanium de haute pureté pour produire du silice dopé au germanium. On peut chauffer les lignes d'alimentation en matière première du côté de formation de dépôt à une température comprise entre 175 et 200 ·C.
