A basin (3) for the forehearth of a glass-making furnace has its internal volume devided into upper (10) and lower (11) portions by means of an annular shoulder, with the horizontal cross-sectional area of the upper portion being significantly greater than that of the lower portion. The base of the basin (3) has in it a glass- discharge outlet (4). When in use, the outlet (4) hay aligned with it a relatively-movable cylinder (6) acting as a flow-metering valve. The cylinder (6) may be rotated about its axis at a constant or adjustable speed, or it may be non-rotary and have a separately- driven stirrer movable about it to prevent or reduce the formation of stagnant areas.
Une aire de coulée (3) adaptée à l'avant-creuset d'un fourneau de verrerie possède un volume interne divisé en une partie supérieure (10) et une partie inférieure (11) par un rebord annulaire, la superficie de la section horizontale de la partie supérieure étant bien plus grande que celle de la partie inférieure. La base de l'aire de coulée (3) est pourvue d'un orifice d'évacuation du verre (4). En marche, l'orifice de sortie (4) se trouve dans l'alignement d'un cylindre relativement mobile (6) fonctionnant comme une vanne de dosage d'écoulement. Le cylindre peut être rotatif autour d'un axe à une vitesse constante ou variable, ou peut-être non rotatif et avoir un mélangeur-agitateur actionné séparément se déplaçant autour de lui afin d'empêcher ou de réduire la formation de zones stagnantes.
