The invention relates to a glass thread that can be obtained by a method comprising mechanically stretching yarns of molten glass flowing from openings at the base of a die and having a chemical composition substantially free from boron oxide and including the following constituents according to the following limits in weight percent: SiO2 40 to 50, Al2O3 18 to 28, CaO 4 to 15, MgO 0 to 6, Na2O 10 to 14, Na2O + K2O + Li2O 13 to 20. The invention also relates to composites including such threads.
L'invention se rapporte à un fil de verre susceptible d'être obtenu par un procédé consistant à étirer mécaniquement des filets de verre fondu s'écoulant d'orifices disposés à la base d'une filière, dont la composition chimique est sensiblement exempte d'oxyde de bore et comprend les constituants suivants dans les limites définies ci-après exprimées en pourcentages pondéraux : SiO2 40 à 50 AI2O3 18 à 28 CaO 4 à 15 MgO O à 6 Na2O 10 à 14 Na2O + K2O + Li2O 13 à 20 Elle concerne également les composites comprenant de tels fils.
