ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to a novel glycerol kinase and a method for its production. The novel glycerol kinase is pro- duced by culturing glycerol kinase producing microorganisms in a nutrient medium which contains carbon and nitrogen sources and an inorganic salt. The glycerol kinase is then isolated. The novel glycerol kinase thus produced may be used as a research reagent or diagnostic reagent for the metabolism of triglyceride in body fluid such as serum. The glycerol kinase has novel physico-chemical and bio-chemical properties and is susceptible to industrial production.
