Methods and systems are disclosed for preventing aircraft collisions with forward looking terrain avoidance (FLTA) functionality based on a terrain avoidance profile used to evaluate potential terrain threats based on the projected flight path of an aircraft in flight, and a clear terrain profile to determine whether the terrain threat has been cleared. If the terrain avoidance profile conflicts with terrain, a collision threat may exist whereby the pilot is notified and a terrain avoidance maneuver is executed. During the terrain avoidance maneuver the clear terrain profile extends in a direction substantially parallel with the horizon at or near the present altitude of the aircraft to check whether it is safe to return to the previous flight path angle or otherwise end the terrain-avoiding maneuver. When the clear terrain profile no longer conflicts with the terrain threat, a terrain clear indicator is then issued to the pilot.
L'invention concerne des procédés et des systèmes pour empêcher la collision d'un aéronef à fonctionnalité d'évitement du relief à balayage frontal (FLTA), basée sur un profil d'évitement du relief utilisé pour évaluer les dangers potentiels du relief en fonction du trajet prévu de l'aéronef en vol, et pour écarter le danger du relief en déterminant si le danger du relief à été écarté. Si le profil d'évitement de relief entre en conflit avec le relief, un éventuel danger de collision existe; le pilote en est averti, et une manoeuvre d'évitement de relief est exécutée. Lors de la manoeuvre d'évitement de relief, le profil d'un relief sans danger de collision s'étend dans une direction sensiblement parallèle à l'horizon, exactement ou à peu près à l'altitude actuelle de l'avion afin de vérifier s'il l'on peut, du point de vue de la sécurité, reprendre l'angle précédent de la trajectoire de vol ou terminer autrement la manoeuvre d'évitement du relief. Lorsque le profil de vol dégagé n'est plus en conflit avec le danger du relief, un indicateur du relief dégagé est communiqué au pilote.
