A new composition of matter which is an amino- functional silicone resin. The aminofunctional resin is formed by the reaction of an aminofunctional silane and a silicone resin. A hair treating composition is also disclosed which is a mixture of a film forming material and a solvent for the film forming material. The film forming material is the aminofunctional resin formed by reacting an aminofunctional silane and a silicone resin. A hair treating method for imparting curl retention to hair employing the resin as the film forming material is further described.
