The invention relates to a handle connector for a hand tool or utensil, in which the tool (2) is equipped with a hole (11, 11') in which the head of the handle (1) is inserted. For said purpose, the outer surface of the handle head matches that of the hole (11, 11') in which it is inserted. The invention also includes a fixing screw (7) with a built-in self-locking mechanism (4) that abuts against the tool (2) or a wedge (5), which is screwed indirectly to the head of the handle (1) using a third element (3) which is fixed such that it cannot rotate in relation thereto, said third element (3) and the head of the handle (1) being made of different materials. The invention is preferably intended for hand tools, such as hammers.
