A hard disk device includes a magnetic disk for storing data, a temperature sensor for detecting an ambient temperature and a controller for controlling operation of the hard disk device. The magnetic disk has a first memory region where data are memorized with a high density when the ambient temperature is higher than a predetermined temperature and a second memory region where data are memorized with a low density when the ambient temperature is lower than the predetermined temperature. The data stored in the second memory region can be transferred to the first memory region when the ambient temperature becomes higher than the predetermined temperature. It is assured that the data are successfully stored in the hard disk device at any temperature without much sacrificing the memory capacity.

Disque dur comprenant un disque magnétique pour stocker des données, un capteur de température pour détecter la température ambiante et un dispositif de commande pour régler le fonctionnement du disque dur. Le disque magnétique comprend une première zone de mémoire où les données sont fortement concentrées lorsque la température ambiante est supérieure à une température prédéterminée lors de leur stockage, et une seconde zone de mémoire où les données sont faiblement concentrées lorsque la température ambiante est inférieure à la température prédéterminée lors de leur stockage. Les données stockées dans la seconde zone de mémoire peuvent être transférées à la première zone de mémoire lorsque la température ambiante devient supérieure à la température prédéterminée. On assure ainsi le stockage des données sur le disque dur à n'importe quelle température sans diminuer sensiblement la capacité de la mémoire.
