ABSTRACT A torpedo car for carrying molten iron has a cover to prevent loss of heat from the interior of the car. The cover is supported on a frame mounted at one end of the car and is slidable across the pouring latch to prevent heat loss. The cover is maintained at spaced relationship from the rotatable vessel in the closed position and is retractable to permit rotation about a horizontal axis.
