A method of making a coated article (e.g., window unit), and corresponding coated article are provided. A layer of or including diamond-like carbon (DLC) (11) is formed on a glass substrate (1), preferably over at least one barrier layer (6). Then, a protective layer (17) is formed on the substrate (1) over the DLC inclusive layer (11). During heat treatment (HT), the protective layer (17) prevents the DLC inclusive layer (11) from significantly burning off. Thereafter, the resulting coated glass substrate may be used as desired, it having been HT and including the protective DLC inclusive layer (11). The protective layer (17) may be removed after heat treatment.
Cette invention se rapporte à un procédé pour fabriquer un article revêtu (par exemple une vitre) et à l'article revêtu correspondant. A cet effet, une couche de carbone sous forme de diamant amorphe (CDA) ou une couche contenant un tel carbone est formée sur un substrat de verre, de préférence sur au moins une couche barrière. Puis une couche protectrice est formée sur ce substrat au-dessus de la couche contenant le dépôt CDA. Pendant le traitement thermique (HT), la couche protectrice empêche la couche contenant le dépôt CDA de subir un brûlage notable. Puis, le substrat de verre revêtu qui en résulte peut être utilisé selon les besoins après avoir été thermotraité, tout en contenant la couche protectrice avec dépôt CDA. La couche protectrice peut être retirée après le traitement thermique.
