The present invention relates to a double electric layer heterogeneous electrochemical supercapacitor (HES) and a method of manufacture. Single-cell or multi-cell versions of the HES can be produced. Output characteristics of the HES are optimized by carefully controlling particular parameters of the HES' design and construction. For example, the ratio between the charging capacities of the positive electrode (10) and negative electrode (15) of the HES is carefully selected and controlled, an active material of higher efficiency than the active material used by typical electrochemical capacitors is preferably utilized in the construction of both the positive and negative electrodes, a separator (30) with improved operating parameters is used, and the negative electrode current collector is preferably manufactured from a material having a matching layer - which ensures high conductivity, high hydrogen gassing overpotential, and high stability within a range of negative electrode operating potentials within the electrolyte environment of the HES.
La présente invention concerne un supracondensateur électrochimique hétérogène (HES) à double couche électrique et un procédé de fabrication idoine. Elle permet d~obtenir des versions unicellulaires ou multicellulaires de l~HES. Les caractéristiques de sortie du HES sont optimisées en régulant avec soin des paramètres particuliers de la conception et de la construction du HES. Par exemple, le rapport entre les capacités de charge de l~électrode positive (10) et l~électrode négative (15) du HES est sélectionné et contrôlé avec soin, on emploie de préférence un matériau actif d~efficacité supérieure par rapport au matériau actif utilisé par les condensateurs électrochimiques typiques dans la construction à la fois de l~électrode positive et de l~électrode négative, on emploie un séparateur (30) aux paramètres de fonctionnement améliorés et le collecteur de courant d~électrode négative est fabriqué de préférence à partir d~un matériau ayant une couche d~appariement assurant une conductivité élevée, un surpotentiel de dégagement d~hydrogène élevé, et une grande stabilité dans une fourchette de potentiels d~exploitation d~électrode négative dans l~environnement électrolytique du HES.
