A hospital bed is provided which comprises a tilt sensor for compensating weight measurements when the bed is articulated. An optional diagnostic and control system to monitor electronic and other subsystems within the bed can be integrated into the bed. The bed may further comprise a one-piece removable headboard. The bed may further have a footboard comprising a console and an equipment holder for securely supporting equipment without obstructing the console.
