Abstract of the Disclosure A method for scavenging hydrogen sulfide in an aqueous and/or hydrocarbon medium is disclosed. According to the method, the medium is contacted with an effective amount of an amidine selected from the group consisting of monoamidines of from 1 to about 18 carbon atoms and polyamidines comprising from 2 to 3 amidine groups of from 1 to about 18 carbon atoms per amidine group. 9103
