Abstract of the Disclosure Disclosed herein is an immersion sampler probe for a metal bath in a BOF vessel. The sampler is weighted to penetrate the slag and position a heat sensor or oxygen sensor at the appropriate depth. A counterweight with a float ensures proper immersion depth. The float keeps the lead wires from the melt.
