ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A new immunopotentiator is now provided, which comprises as the active ingredient forphenicine of the formula Image or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof or a hydrate thereof. Forphenicine is now found to be readily produced by oxidizing a new compound of the formula (I) Image (I) with a known oxidizing agent. Furthermore, the immuno- potentiator comprising forphenicine may be used to enhance the immune response in living animals.
