A self-supporting, stable support structure (10) is disclosed for positioning and supporting a monitor and also optionally for supporting a slidable keyboard tray (68). The support structure (10) is also adapted for association with, and for support of, a top platform member (11) that includes a transparent portion (14). The support structure (10) includes a monitor support shelf (23), a pair of side supports (24, 26) which are each equipped with a U-configured unitary frame (50) having a pair of legs (42, 43) and a cross member (45). A plurality of transversely extending, vertically spaced load bearable wire members (47) extend between each pair of legs (42, 43). Adjustable connector assemblies (64) connect the shelf member (23) with selected members (47) of each side support (24, 26). Optionally but preferably, each side support (24, 26) also includes a transverse cross bar (48) which is configured to support a drawer slide (63) in combination with an associated respective leg member (43, 57); thus, the support structure (10) can also support a horizontally slidable keyboard tray (68). the combination of the monitor support structure (10) and the top platform member (11) provides a useful work station.
