An intraocular lens injector (10) compresses an intraocular lens by rolling the lens (65) into a tight spiral and injects the compressed lens (65) through a relatively small incision (78) in the eye (76) wherein the lens expands back into its uncompressed state. The lens is inserted into a receiving channel (18) of the injector (10) wherein as the lens is advanced along the passageway (20), the lens will roll tightly into a spiral. An insertion rod (100) having a cup-shaped recess (102) on the distal end and also having a venting system (108, 110) for excess lubricant, advances the compressed lens down the passageway (20).

Un injecteur (10) de lentille intra-oculaire comprime la lentille intra-oculaire (65) en l'enroulant en une spirale serrée et injecte la lentille (65) ainsi comprimée à travers une incision (78) relativement petite ménagée dans l'oeil (76), dans lequel la lentille se détend pour reprendre sa forme non comprimée. La lentille est introduite dans un canal récepteur (18) de l'injecteur (10) dans lequel, pendant sa progression le long du passage (20), elle s'enroule en spirale serrée. Une tige d'insertion (100), pourvue d'un évidement évasé (102) à son extrémité distale et d'un système de purge (108, 110) pour le lubrifiant excédentaire, fait descendre la lentille comprimée le long du passage (20).
