A system for providing high power pulses into a load, the system comprising: a load; a Capacitor Charging Power Supply (CCPS) for providing a plurality of low power pulses; a pulsed power circuit receiving the low power pulses from the CCPS, and providing high power pulses to the load, said pulsed power circuit comprising: a) a first storage capacitor for storing the charge, said charge resulting from a plurality of said low power pulses; b) controlled switching means, said switching means being timely turned ON for allowing the first storage capacitor to discharge the accumulated charge resulting from the plurality of low power pulses received, thereby providing a pulse of current; and c) pulse compression means, said pulse compression means receiving a current pulse resulting from the first storage capacitor discharge, and providing to the load a pulse of higher current and shorter duration than the current pulse it received. The system is characterized in that it comprises an inductor of high inductance in the branch linking the CCPS and the pulsed power, said inductor of high inductance enabling recovery of the energy reflected from the load, and protecting components of the CCPS from damage that may be caused by said energy reflected from the load.

L'invention concerne un système qui permet de produire des impulsions de courant élevées dans une charge, ce système comprenant une charge, une alimentation électrique chargeant un condensateur (CCPS), afin de produire plusieurs impulsions basse puissance, un circuit à énergie pulsée recevant les impulsions basse puissance du CCPS et fournissant des impulsions à puissance élevée à la charge. Le circuit à énergie pulsée comprend a) un premier condensateur de stockage permettant de stocker la charge, résultant de plusieurs impulsions basse puissance, b) des moyens de commutation commandés mis sous tension en temps utile, afin de permettre au premier condensateur de décharger la charge accumulée, résultant de plusieurs impulsions basse puissance reçues, ce qui produit une impulsion de courant, c) des moyens de compression d'impulsion recevant une impulsion de courant, résultant de la première décharge du condensateur de stockage, et fournissant à la charge une impulsion de courant plus élevé et de durée plus courte que l'impulsion qu'elle a reçu. Le système est caractérisé en ce qu'il comprend une bobine d'induction à induction élevée située dans la dérivation reliant le CCPS et la puissance pulsée, cette boîte d'induction à induction élevée permettant la récupération de l'énergie réfléchie par la charge, et la protection des composants du CCPS contre des détériorations pouvant être provoquées par l'énergie réfléchie par la charge.
