The inventive indene derivatives of formula (I) are capable of selectively modulating the activities of peroxisome proliferator activated receptors (PPARs), causing no adverse side effects, and thus, they are useful for the treatment and prevention of disorders modulated by PPARs, i.e., metabolic syndromes such as diabetes, obesity, arteriosclerosis, hyperlipidemia, hyperinsulinism and hypertension, inflammatory diseases such as osteoporosis, liver cirrhosis and asthma, and cancer.
Les dérivés indènes représentés par la formule (I) sont capables de moduler sélectivement les activités des récepteurs activés par les proliférateurs des péroxisomes ou "PPAR" (Peroxisome Proliferator Activated Receptors), sans effets secondaires. Ils conviennent donc particulièrement au traitement et à la prévention de troubles modulés par les PPAR, et notamment les syndromes métaboliques tels que le diabète, l'obésité, l'artériosclérose, l'hyperlipémie, l'hyperinsulinisme et l'hypertension, les affections inflammatoires telles que l'ostéoporose, la cirrhose du foie et l'asthme, et le cancer.
