The present invention relates to an induction furnace for melting of metals that do not connect inductively in solid state. The induction furnace has a lining comprising a mixture of graphite and silicon carbide and has an electric conductivity higher than the electrical conductivity of the metal to be melted when metal is in solid state, but lower than the electrical conductivity of the metal to be melted when the metal is in molten state. The invention further relates to a lining for induction furnace and to a method for producing such lining.

La présente invention concerne un four à induction permettant la fusion de métaux qui ne se lient pas par induction à l'état solide. Le four à induction comporte un revêtement comprenant un mélange de graphite et de carbure de silicium et présente une conductivité électrique supérieure à la conductivité électrique du métal à fondre quand le métal est à l'état solide mais inférieure à la conductivité électrique du métal à fondre quand le métal est à l'état fondu. L'invention concerne en outre un revêtement pour un four à induction et un procédé de production de ce revêtement.
