An internal combustion engine has a crankcase, a crankshaft, a cylinder block, at least one piston, a cylinder head assembly, and a cooling system for cooling at least a portion of the engine. The cooling system has a first cooling jacket for cooling a first side of the cylinder block, a second cooling jacket for cooling a second side of the cylinder block, and a cylinder head cooling jacket for cooling the cylinder head assembly. A coolant inlet and a coolant outlet fluidly communicate with the first and second cooling jackets respectively. Coolant flowing in the cooling system flows from the coolant inlet to the first cooling jacket, then to the cylinder head cooling jacket, then to the second cooling jacket, and finally to the coolant outlet. A cylinder block, an engine cooling system, and a method of cooling an engine are also disclosed.
La présente invention concerne un moteur à combustion interne qui présente un carter de moteur, un vilebrequin, un bloc-cylindres, au moins un piston, un ensemble culasse, et un système de refroidissement permettant de refroidir au moins une partie du moteur. Le système de refroidissement présente une première chemise de refroidissement permettant de refroidir un premier côté du bloc-cylindres, une seconde chemise de refroidissement permettant de refroidir un second côté du bloc-cylindres, et une chemise de refroidissement d'un ensemble culasse permettant de refroidir l'ensemble culasse. Une entrée de liquide de refroidissement et une sortie de liquide de refroidissement communiquent respectivement et de façon fluide avec la première et la seconde chemise de refroidissement. Le liquide de refroidissement s'écoulant dans le système de refroidissement coule depuis l'entrée du liquide de refroidissement vers la première chemise de refroidissement, se dirige vers la chemise de refroidissement de l'ensemble culasse, puis ensuite vers la seconde chemise de refroidissement, et, pour terminer vers la sortie de liquide de refroidissement. L'invention concerne également un bloc-cylindres, un système de refroidissement de moteur, et un procédé de refroidissement d'un moteur.
