ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A zero phase firing control circuit for supplying isolated gating pulses having a direct current supply for supplying direct current, an alternating current supply for supplying alternating current, a zero phase pulse circuit connected to the alternating current supply for providing posi- tive first quadrant and negative third quadrant pulses, a gate control circuit connected to the direct current supply and to the zero phase pulse circuit for receiving the positive first quadrant and negative third quadrant pulses and for providing corresponding positive and negative isolated gating pulses, and a switch connected to receive the isolated gating pulses for connecting the alternating current supply to a load at zero crossover points in the alternating current.
