Isosorbide monoesters according to the general formula (I) wherein R' or R" represent a hydrogen atom, or an group CO-R"', with the proviso that one group R' or R" is a hydrogen atom, and R'" represents linear or branched, saturated or un saturated alkyl- or alkenyl groups with 6 to 22 C-atoms are useful compounds in the preparation of all kind of detergents, in particular dish washing detergents or of cosmetic preparations.
