The front layer of the lamination carries the printed picture of the puzzle and is stuck to a middle layer of soft material, which in turn is stuck to a back layer of hard structural material. When the back layer is a wood veneer, the middle layer may be card- board, which economically provides pieces of enhanced durability, appearance, and feel.
