Disclosed are ketone-aldehyde resins, with low water content and high thermal stability and yellowing resistance, and a process for preparing them in high yield and their use. The ketone-aldehyde resins are produced by condensing a ketone and an aldehyde in the presence of an alkali metal base and a phase transfer catalyst and by adding the aldehyde in portions, one as an initial charge and others at a later stage.
