ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A pressure sensitive electrical signal input device for use in a microwave oven or other household ap- pliance for introducing a setting into the appliance through manual momentary single-contact actuation includes an actuator member, composed of a generally flat deformable plate having elongate actuator regions on a first surface thereof and carrying on the opposite surface thereof first electrodes disposed opposite the actuator sections, and a substrate disposed in conjunction with the electrode side of the actuator member and having second electrodes respectively corresponding to the first electrodes and connected in series. One of the first electrodes, may be depressed into electrical contact with a connecting one of the second electrodes by pressure on the actuator region. Which of the electrodes are in contact is then sensed, by determining the electrical resistance of the series connection of the second electrodes between one end thereof and the depressed first electrodes, to provide a corresponding electrical input signal.
