Abstract In a process for laminating a photosensitive layer to a substrate surface by means of pressure, the improvement comprising the sequential steps of: (a) applying a thin layer of liquid on the substrate surface immediately prior to lamination, which layer forms an interface between the substrate surface and the photosensitive layer upon lamination, the liquid being a nonsolvent with respect to the photosensitive layer; and (b) displacing the thin layer of liquid from the substrate surface by absorption into the photosensitive layer during lamination.
