ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Edgemark equipment 10 for focusing indicia on the lengthwise edge of a continuously moving web 12 comprises a laser printer 14 mounted to a moveable base 16. The printer 14 ablates (etches) the target web 12 with a series of directional beams. An edge detector 28 senses the edge of web 12 during operations and ensures accurate positioning of the printer 14 on the web 12 by signalling a linear actuator 30 to adjust the printer 14 when necessary. A central operating system 32 comprising a pressure sensitive screen 34 is provided for enabling all edgemarking equipment 10 functions at operator command.
