The present invention provides a tooth whitening composition having a transparent first component that is a carrier compound and a transparent second component that is an oxidizing compound which when applied to a stained tooth and exposed to actinic light is activated to facilitate tooth whitening. The invention also provides a method for light-activated tooth whitening which comprise applying a tooth-whitening composition to one or more teeth and exposing said composition to actinic light to activate said oxidizing compound. The present invention further provides a device for tooth whitening which has a light source, at least one optical output, a projection means for holding and positioning said optical output outside of a patient's mouth in a manner so as to provide approximately simultaneous and uniform illumination of a patient's front teeth by said optical output; and a connection means for connecting said light source to said optical output. The invention also provides methods of using the device.
L'invention concerne une composition permettant de blanchir les dents, qui renferme un premier composant transparent tenant lieu de composé vecteur, et un second composant transparent tenant lieu de composé oxydant. Une fois appliquée sur une dent ternie par des salissures, et exposée à une lumière actinique, cette composition est activée, via ledit composé oxydant, pour faciliter l'effet blanchissant. L'invention concerne également un procédé permettant de blanchir une dent sous activation lumineuse, qui consiste à appliquer une composition à effet blanchissant sur une ou plusieurs dents et à exposer ladite composition à une lumière actinique afin d'activer le composé oxydant considéré. L'invention concerne en outre un dispositif permettant de blanchir les dents, qui comporte : une source lumineuse; au moins une sortie optique; un système de projection permettant de maintenir et de placer cette sortie optique en dehors de la bouche du patient, de manière à établir une illumination a peu près simultanée et uniforme d'une ou plusieurs dents de devant; et un système de liaison permettant de relier la source lumineuse à la sortie optique. L'invention concerne enfin des procédés relatifs à l'utilisation du dispositif considéré.
