RD-18,354 LIQUID CRYSTALLINE POLYESTERS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Liquid crystalline polyesters are provided having chemically combined 4,4'-bis(p-carboxyphenoxy)biphenyl, or 4,4'-bis(p-carboxyphenoxy)diphenylether units. These dicarboxyphenylether spacers can be obtained from the nitro displacement of alkyl nitrobenzene with the appropriate bisphenol.
