A battery controller system for a metal and solid electrolyte battery, such as a lithium-polymer battery has temperature sensors arranged to detect a temperature of cells in the battery, heating elements arranged to heat the cells, a heating element controller receiving signals from the temperature sensors and controlling a current supplied to the heating elements so as to maintain each one of the cells at a predetermined temperature, and a power mode controller detecting a demand for power from the battery and setting the predetermined temperature in response to a level of power to be supplied from or to the battery. The power mode controller sets at least a floating temperature, a charging temperature, and a power supply temperature. The controller also has voltage sensor detecting a voltage of each one of the cells during use, and determines whether any one of the cells is susceptible to damage by continued use. The battery is disconnected from the power connection in response to determination that one of the cells may be damaged.
Un système de contrôle de pile pour une pile électrolytique solide et métallique, telle qu'une pile lithium-polymère, comprenant des détecteurs de température pour détecter la température des cellules dans la pile, des éléments chauffants pour chauffer les cellules, un contrôleur d'éléments chauffants recevant des signaux des détecteurs de température et contrôlant l'alimentation de courant fourni aux éléments chauffants de façon à maintenir chaque cellule à une température prédéterminée, et un contrôleur d'alimentation qui détecte une demande de puissance de la pile et règle la température prédéterminée en réponse à un niveau de puissance à être fourni par la pile ou à la pile. Le contrôleur d'alimentation permet de régler au moins une température de flottement, une température de charge et une température d'alimentation. Le contrôleur comprend de plus un détecteur de voltage qui détecte un voltage à chaque cellule lorsqu'elles sont actives, et détermine si une des cellules est susceptible d'être endommagée par un usage continu. La pile est débranchée de la prise d'alimentation suite à la confirmation qu'une des cellules pourrait être endommagée.
