ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An integrated continuous low energy rendering process for preparing stabilized fat, protein meal material and gelatin or glue stock material from raw organic material containing fat, water, and proteinaceous material, such as a mixture of raw bone and raw meat tissue. The raw organic material is fed continuously without heating or finely grind- ing into a press, preferably a screw-type press mounted within a cage, from which a large portion of the fat and soft low density proteinaceous material, such as meat tissue, are extruded separately from the high density proteinaceous material, such as bone and sinew. The extruded soft low density proteinaceous material and fat in the form of an aqueous fatty slurry are subjected to moderate heating to melt the fat therein followed by centrifuging to separate from the slurry most of the fat in the form of crude fat material. The crude fat material separated from the slurry is subjected to centrifuging or evaporation and filtering or settling to remove water and suspended solids to provide a clear high quality stabilized fat product. The low density proteinaceous material from the centrifuge is mixed with the high density proteinaceous material from the press, and the mixture is heated to effect crisping and drying to a low moisture content, such as 10 wt.%, and preferably sized within a selected particle size range to provide a low-fat protein meal material. Where the raw organic material contains a large amount of bone, the dried mixture is subjec- ted to a dry gravity separation treatment to recover a select particle size range of low-fat high density proteinaceous material suitable for making high quality gelatin.
