ABSTRACT Capacitor and Element Therefor An electrolytic capacitor having a low equivalent series inductance (ESL) and equivalent series resistance (ESR) includes a case containing cylindrically rolled cathode, anode and spacer films. Tabs abut the cathode and anode films and are connected to leads which are spaced apart across the diameter of a header used to close the open end of the case. The tabs in the finished capacitor are circumferentially spaced proximate and parallel to each other. They are bent over so that they are also parallel to the diameter of the header on which the leads are spaced. The tabs are of unequal length, the longer tab being attached to the lead furthest from the point on the circumference of the capacitor element where the tabs are attached and the shorter tab being attached to the other lead. An insulator is disposed between the tabs. In one embodiment a conductive header is utilized and one of the leads is insulated therefrom.
