A low shaft speed generator for producing electrical power in a predetermined cycle range and having a housing of predetermined length and diameter, a rotor mounted in the housing having a predetermined length, elongated rotor windings on the rotor, and connections for connecting them to a source of electrical energy, a plurality of stator windings in the housing, being arranged in stator winding groups , with the stator windings in each group being mounted in closely spaced radial locations relative to one another, but being spaced apart by being offset diagonally along the length of the housing, the elongated rotor windings having a length sufficient generating magnetic fields which sweep a path adjacent each of the stator windings in each group in sequence, as the rotor rotates.
