ABSTRACT A power supply apparatus is provided for converting direct currents into higher voltage high frequency alternating currents at adjustable amperages. The apparatus include an intensity adjustment for providing a duty cycle modulation voltage indicative of a selected average current to be output, a duty cycle modulation responsive to the modulation voltage to provide driver-enabling signals at a fixed oscillator frequency, with duty cycles modulated in proportion to the modulation voltage, at two enabling terminals in alternate periods of said oscillator, and a driver including two current switches each connected through an end of a respective primary transformer coil in parallel between a center tap-source of direct current and a zero potential ground, and responsive to driver-enabling signals during their duty cycles to conduct currents from the ends of the respective coils in opposite directions from the center tap towards ground and thereby induce alternating currents in a secondary transformer coil.
