MACHINE FOR CLEANING OUTER SURFACE OF PIPES OF A MAINLINE Abstract of the Disclosure The invention relates to machine for cleaning outer surface of large-diameter pipes from dirt and anticorrosive coating during repair of mainlines, in particular, oil and gas lines without interruption of supply of a product transported along the pipeline. The machine comprises a self-propelled carriage which is moved, during cleaning, over the surface of the pipe being cleaned axially thereof. The carriage frame supports a working member having a hollow casing accommodating an annular rotor coaxial with the pipe being cleaned, the rotor supporting cleaning tools. The casing and the rotor are made detachable each consisting of two half-rings, one half-ring of the casing being the top half-ring which is rigidly secured to the frame of the self-propelled carriage, and the other casing half-ring is the bottom half-ring. The bottom half-ring of the casing and one half-ring of the rotor are made detachable each consisting of two hinged parts of substantially the same length which are articulated with the ends thereof to the ends of respective half-rings for rotation relative to the half-rings on either side of the axis of the pipe being cleaned, whereby the distal ends of the hinged parts can be moved apart at the points of deta- chment for mounting and dismantling the machine on the pipe being cleaned. The top half-ring of the casing has a device for securing the rotor thereto after bringing together the mating planes of the hinged parts of the casing and rotor. This construction of the machine reduces the time needed for its mounting and dismantling on an operating pipeline and cuts down labour-consuming operation thus improving the productivity of the machine as a whole. - 2 -
